The X Factor auditions return to London, and also roll up in Birmingham this week, where singer Natalie Imbruglia joins the team as a guest judge.

First up they go to London where Cheryl, Louis and Simon are desperate to find the next big thing. Twin brothers Samir and Medhi, also known as ‘Twem’, are among this week’s hopefuls. The boys have travelled all the way from France to perform on the show, with the hope of realising their singing dreams.

Explaining a bit more about themselves, the boys say: “Twem means twins in Arabic. It means also lucky. We come from Paris especially for the audition – especially for the X Factor auditions (sic).”

And it all looks good, until the boys perform Lady Gaga’s Just Dance, and Cheryl tells them they are like the “Parisian John and Edward”.  Louis is, of course, delighted but Simon is less than pleased, commenting to him: “This is the effect you’re now having on Europe and that is a terrifying thought.”

Will they be able to win the judges over – or is the prospect of another John and Edward Grimes just a little too much to bear?

Also trying his luck on this week’s show is Storm Lee, a wannabe rock star who was born in Edinburgh and currently lives in LA.

Storm took a train, two planes, a bus and three taxis to get to his auditon and he’s determined that nothing will stop him achieving his dream of superstardom now that he’s made it to London.

“I have been trying to make it in this business for maybe 25 years. This competition could change my life…I think that singing is a real gift that I have been really blessed to have. And I feel that I have to share it. I have been singing longer than other people here have even been alive! I don’t believe in last chances, but this is my last chance,” he tells the judges.

Storm performs U2’s Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, and it all looks like it’s going well with Simon singing along – until he tells the singer that he doesn’t like his “stupid” name, and that he’ll need to change it before he can seriously consider him as a potential star.

Will Storm do as he’s told, or will he refuse to change himself for Simon Cowell? You’ll need to watch to find out!

Also trying out on Saturday’s audition show is singing duo Abbey and Lisa. The girls, who try their luck in Birmingham, tell Simon, Louis, Cheryl and Natalie that they “want to live the dream, get on stage and be ourselves”.

However it seems that ‘being themselves’ is a strategy that only serves to get the audience’s back up – and after receiving boos from the crowd, the girls throw a strop and storm off!

Will they come back? And if they do, will the judges forgive their childish behaviour? you’ll need to watch the show to find out…

Some viewers might remember Liam Payne from the 2008 series of The X Factor. Now aged 16, the singer has decided to try out again, and is hoping that it will be a case of second time lucky, performing Michael Buble’s Cry Me A River.

Liam made it all the way to Simon’s house at the Judges Houses stage two years ago – will he manage to win the judges over once again?

Also trying her luck is housewife, 41-year-old Pattie Eleode. Pattie started singing in Nigeria when she was just four-years-old and loves singing, citing her inspirations as Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.

Pattie, who says she sings with “passion and with power” decided to peform For Your Eyes Only for her audition. Will the auditions agree and put her through to Boot Camp? You’ll need to watch to find out!

The X Factor returns to STV this Saturday night, September 4, at 7.30pm.
